Do I have to wear compression stockings for a week after having poly sclerotherapy?

I have noticed more veins surfacing after wearing these uncomfortable compression stockings for 4 days. I had the poly sclerotherapy done not the foam sclerotherapy.

Ideally you should have compression stockings for at least a week or two after sclerotherapy.

We recommend 7 days 24 hours a day for our patients to keep treated veins closed to allow solutions to work more effectively.

The appearance of more veins on the surface can be for many reasons not related to the hose wearing. Individual response varies, technique of the injector and temporary re-routing of the blood to other vessels. This is the important time to wear the hose. There are many types of hose available, some being more tolerable than others. We typically use a lighter 20 - 30 mmHg hose which our patients tolerate very well.

I only tell patients to wear compression for 48 hours following any type of sclerotherapy.
